SPOTLIGHT: BLACK MOSS

| |
BLACK MOSS: The Black Master Of Spontaneous Sentences is a young dynamic hip hop artist that has earned his place among the most respected in South African hip hop. It was in late 2006, during his studies at the University of Kwa Zulu Natal that Black MOSS decided to pursue a career as a hip hop artist. With a growing reputation for his freestyle ability and spontaneous lyrics he dubbed himself the Master Of Spontaneous Sentences.

His breakthrough in the Durban scene was with his debut track, M.O.S.S, which appeared on the Life Check Sessions Volume I. Since then, he has worked with many prominent artists from his home country and has shared the stage with international artists such as Busta Rhymes, T Pain, DJ Krush, Wordsworth and People Under the Stairs to mention a few.

Black Moss’s music can be described as a fresh perspective that draws on various influences; it aims to create a conscious awareness of contemporary issues affecting today’s society. The music is a mixture of "old school" meets "new school" hip hop and new age funk with a feel good element.

He has performed internationally in Germany, Monte Carlo, South Korea and the United States of America. Other achievements include being an ambassador for DC clothing company & Red Bull, Hype Magazine Music Award Nominee and reaching the quarter finals of South Africa’s Got Talent.

Black Moss’s highly anticipated debut album is due out this year. Although the release date has not been confirmed whispers in the corridors tell me that a July/August release date is on the cards. The album is produced by duo Lunatik and Zenith and is entitled “Public Interest-post '94”. A short documentary will be released online covering the making of the album.
